Make the Internet Child Friendly (block Websites)

• Right click the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop or your start menu and select Properties.

• You will now see an Internet Properties window, along the top of this will be 7 tabs. Select the content tab.

• Now under Content Advisor, select Enable and set up your security settings for the website blocker. (it would probably be a good idea to use the same password as you use for your windows profile account, used to log into your computer therefore you won’t forget it).

• Once that is done the window should disappear and you should now only see the internet properties window. Again under Content Advisor select Settings, and then enter your new password (the one you entered when setting up the security settings).

• The Content Advisor window will now open, you should see a list of what internet explorer and all other browsers are blocking. Select each one of these in turn and move the slider underneath to unrestricted. (This is internet explorer’s default setting; no sites are banned by default).

• Now click the second tab at the top of the window labelled Approved Sites. You can now either block or always allow a website. To block a website enter the URL in the ‘Allow this website’ text box and then click the ‘Never’ button to the right of the text box.

• This site will now be blocked; you can test this by closing the settings window, opening your browser and typing in the address. A window will display explaining that the site has been blocked.
